Of course, even the best relationships harbor the occasional misspoken tease or snarl. But, if you often find yourself hurting each other’s feelings you may have a communication problem or one (or both) of you might be a jerk. The real challenge is figuring out if either of you is unreasonably sensitive or, in some cases, not sensitive enough. Ask yourself these questions:

Are you easily offended? When interacting with others (i.e. not just your spouse), do you often become irritated or upset at someone else? If you are too sensitive it will show in your experiences with other people. Frequency is the key. The more often you become sulky, irritated, or put out the more likely it is that you are an unreasonably sensitive person.

Are you offensive? Do you upset or anger other people on a regular basis? The answer to this question may be less obvious to the offender (you) than it is to the offended. In fact, it may be best to ask a close friend because many people who fall into this category are unaware of others’ reactions to their behavior. If you get into arguments with people that you don’t know, or if you regularly get into spats with friends and family, it is likely that you are somewhat insensitive.

the idea here is that if you have an attitude problem it won’t be limited to your interactions with your partner

Of course, the idea here is that if you have an attitude problem it won’t be limited to your interactions with your partner. If you are otherwise a well balanced, socially aware person but are overly sensitive or aggressive with your mate, you may have deeper relationship issues that need to be addressed in other ways.

It is normal to occasionally offended or hurt by someone else, and to sometimes put your foot in your mouth. But if you are easily hurt or a little too prickly do your relationship a favor and try to remember that about yourself next time you’re feeling sulky or argumentative. Until we learn to cheat death by transferring our minds into newly cloned bodies, there just isn’t enough time to waste it snarking at your spouse.

Like any medical problem, proper diagnosis is half the battle. So assuming you’ve already tried drinking more water and turning off the loud music, this series will help you identify and treat your headaches, while teaching you everything you’ve ever needed to know about the pain in your head that becomes a pain in the ass.

Hollywood Superstar: The Migraine
One question we get all the time is, “How can I tell if my headache is a migraine?” In short, know that while a headache is just pain, a migraine is a surround sound, full Technicolor experience. Like any good story, a migraine has a beginning, middle and end. It changes and evolves, and is usually followed by an awful sequel.

The clearest indicator of a migraine is aura, a term given for the way a migraine messes with your senses. Bright flashing dots, wavy or jagged lines, blind spots, trouble tasting or smelling, and other strange and scary neurological effects are attributed to the constricting and dilating blood vessels that define a migraine. Many people report the aura happening up to thirty minutes before the onset of actual pain.

Next comes the head pain, usually starting as a dull, throbbing feeling that sometimes moves onto being sharp and piercing.

More than 70% of migraine sufferers are women

What really brings it home is the nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and sensitivity to light, sound, and smells.

Finally, while people can go through life only experiencing the occasional tension or sinus headache, a migraine is almost guaranteed to return as seldom as twice a year or as often as four times a week.

More than 70% of migraine sufferers are women, and there is little conclusive evidence on how best to treat them. Many report than they simply had to trust in each new and different treatment option, until they found the right one for them.
